Kyrgyzstan biking: Tour 6

In Kyrgyzstan cycling is very popular among the travelers. They come in Kyrgyz Republic to have biking along our beautiful gorges and to find out more about the nomadic way of lifestyle. You will see different landscapes of Kyrgyzstan during one bike tour. You will be surprised that the views change so fast. Lots of people, who are fond of biking, arrive in our republic, and all of them want to come back here one more time.   

Day 1: Arrival in Bishkek
You will be collected from the International Airport of Manas by your guide and accompanied to the capital of Kyrgyz Republic - Bishkek City. Drive from the Airport takes half an hour. You will start the day with a nice breakfast. You will be accommodated in the hotel*** that is located in the calm area of the city. After that you will have a rest. Today you will have an excursion to Ala-Archa Natural Park, which is situated on the Kyrgyz ridge (a spur of Tien-Shan), 45 km. from Bishkek, in the Gorge of Ala-Archa. To observe this famous gorge you will ascend on the top of the mountain. Drive back to Bishkek City. Your dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Overnight stay is in the hotel***.  

Day 2: Bishkek - Kochkor - Sarybulak
Transfer via Orto Tokoi water collecting reservoir to Kochkor Village by car. In the Village of Kochkor you will meet a family that will show you how the Kyrgyz national felt carpets are produced. You even could participate in this felt show and create your own carpet. In Kochkor Village you will also visit Kyrgyz handicrafts shop. After that ride to Sary Bulak village (2310 m. alt., 38 km) by the asphalt road. Transfer (7 km, 2390m. alt.) to confluence of Kara - Kudjur and Biulioomiu rivers by bike on the dirt road. Night is in the tent camp.  

Day 3: Sarybulak - Kichi-Naryn
This day riding is on the dirt road along the River of Balgart and Kichi - Naryn River. Easy day for cycling. Near Kichi - Naryn River we will spend this night in the forest, in tents. Shepherds with all their relatives were coming to this region. As a big family, all of them were going from one place to another with a great amount of livestock. Among the nomads this place is well-liked since ancient times. Some Kyrgyz big tribes could comprise about 1000 yurts. The Kyrgyz nomads like to meet travelers and they are very friendly.  

Day 4: Ride (63 km) Kichi-Naryn - Naryn town
Easy day. We will ride down to the Kichi-Naryn Village (2351m. alt.) after breakfast. It is situated 4 km. from the confluence of Naryn and Kichi-Naryn Rivers. The road to Naryn will surprise you by its beauty and amazing mountains. The whole way will be along incredible gorges and you will have many photo stops!  You will cycle to the town of Naryn (2050 m. alt.) along Naryn River. Naryn is a long narrow town that streched along the gorge near the longest river in Kyrgyz Republic - Naryn. The town is situated very close to the mountains, at the altitude of 2800 meters above the sea level. Lunch is on the way. After having lunch we will continue cycling by the main road. You spend this night as nomads do, in yurts! Yurts are collapsible nomadic dwellings that are made of wood without using a single nail and felt.  

Day 5: Transfer or Ride Naryn - Son Kul Lake
This day you can ride or to be transferred over the Kurtka Pass (3243m. alt.) to Son Kul Lake, which is the 2nd largest lake in Kyrgyz Republic. Son Kul Lake is surrounded by mountains and it is the highest alpine lake in Kyrgyzstan, situated at an altitude of 3016 meters above sea level. Kyrgyz nomads started to come to this wonderful area with their families for rest and relaxation. Herders of the Naryn region come to the lake to use it as a pastureland. The first ride's part to the entrance of the gorge is trouble-free with a slight descent. There is a narrow spot where we will enter a narrow gorge with high sharp rock walls, in some places up to 200 meters. A steep rise to the pass begins here. Descent is easier and shorter. Upon our arrival, you will be free to explore and enjoy the untouched nature of the lake and its environs. Dinner. Overnight stay (3016 m. alt.) is in nomadic collapsible dwellings - yurts. Yurt represents wooden frame, covered with thin felt mats.  

Day 6: Son Kul Lake
This day you will have an excellent opportunity to explore Kyrgyz nature and lifestyle by yourself. You can ride on a horse along the lake's shore or just relax in the atmosphere of the wild and calm nature. It is a great chance to familiarize with nomadic culture and customs. We will walk among the Tian - Shan Mountains where every nomad invites you to his yurt to taste a piece of bread and kumis - national staple drink made of mare's milk that is fermented. You will spend this night in tents.  

Day 7: Ride Son Kul Lake - Kyzyl Korgon Canyon (80km)
Breakfast. Today we will cycle in the direction of the sanctified stones with ancient (dating back to 800 B.C.) inscriptions on them. After visiting this site we leave Son Kul and cycle to the valley of Djumgal through the pass of Kara Keche (3381m).Upon arrival we will walk among red canyons. Overnight is in tents.  Day

8: Ride Kyzyl Korgon - Kyrk-Kyz Pass 3223m
This day we pass near the Village of Kyzyl Oi (red canyon). En route to the village you will see famous red canyons that are completely different from other mountains in Kyrgyz Republic. This place always impresses travelers and all of them want to come back there one more time. Today we will see also the rocks of diverse colors, summer pastures and panoramic views. Kyzyl Oi is a small poor village in the mountains. You will have time to see the countryside life of the Kyrgyz people and to walk there. Overnight stay is in the tent camp. 

Day 9: Ride Kyrk-Kyz pass - Ter Jailak pass 2446m - Toluk village (50km)
This day, on the way will meet many Kyrgyz herdsmen on their summer pastures. The rout will be difficult today. Even nowadays nomads come to this place and you could see how they live. It will be also possible to try national drink (kumis) that has really specific taste. Kumis is made of mare's milk that is fermented.  The Kyrgyz nomads are very hospitable and they are always happy to converse with foreign guests. You could see their felt dwellings and ask the nomads about their life. Overnight stay is in the tent camp.  

Day 10: Ride and transfer to the Toktogul village
After breakfast we will ride, and our driver will drive behind us. The road has a plenty of incredible views and you will never forget them. When you are there it is become clear that the best architecture in the world is Mother Nature! Lunch and transfer to the village where we can take a shower or drive to the artificial lake. Overnight in a home stay. Free time.  

Day 11: Transfer to Bishkek city
This morning we drive to Bishkek City. Through the views of untouched nature you will be carried away by the wonderful sceneries. On arrival in Bishkek you will have free time to go for shopping and just to walk. At 8 o'clock in the evening you will have a dinner in a restaurant. This night you will spend in the hotel***.  

Day 12: Transfer to the airport
Your guide will meet you in the hotel at the time arranged before according to your flight details and accompany you to the Airport.
